AJA 3G-AM Overview

The AJA 3G-AM is a flexible, triple-rate Mini-Converter that enables embedding and disembedding of up to 8 channels of AES audio across 3G, HD, or SD-SDI signals. It supports both operations at the same time, with individual control over each channel pair. This allows users to either maintain the existing SDI audio or replace it with AES audio using the included breakout cable.

For expanded audio support, two units can be cascaded to allow embedding of up to 16 channels. The 3G-AM supports ancillary data pass-through and includes the option to remove HANC packets according to SMPTE 291M standards. It automatically detects input formats and supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1080p. The unit features BNC connections for SDI input/output and includes a BNC AES breakout cable for audio interfacing.
