OWC ThunderBlade External SSD Overview

Add high-performance portable RAID storage to your setup with the 4TB ThunderBlade Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array from OWC. Featuring four M.2 NVMe drive bays loaded with four 1TB SSDs, the array delivers a total of 4TB of fast storage. Use the Thunderbolt 3 connection to achieve read speeds up to 2402 MB/s and write speeds up to 2332 MB/s. A second Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port allows for daisy chaining more Thunderbolt 3 devices.

Preconfigured in RAID 0, the ThunderBlade also supports RAID 1, 4, 5, and 10. Its plug-and-play functionality and included ballistic hard-shell carrying case make it ideal for on-the-go use. An AC adapter is provided for consistent power. Preformatted for macOS (10.13 or later), it's also compatible with Windows 10 and later, as well as Windows Server 2016, when using SoftRAID for Windows. Note that RAID 4 and 10 are currently supported on macOS only.

Note: For optimal performance and full compatibility, ensure your system is running macOS 13.5 or later.

OS Requirements

The OWC 4TB ThunderBlade Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array supports macOS 10.13 and later, and Windows 10 or later. A Thunderbolt 3 port is required for use. RAID 4 and 10 are only available on macOS at this time. The drive is preformatted for Mac and can be used with Windows using SoftRAID for Windows.
