OWC Express 4M2 Overview

The Express 4M2 4-Slot M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure from OWC / Other World Computing is built to securely house up to four separately sold M.2 2280 solid-state drives. Designed with a durable aluminum casing, it lets you safely store and carry your music, photos, and data wherever you go. Featuring two Thunderbolt 3 ports and a DisplayPort output, this enclosure allows seamless device connectivity and supports external displays with resolutions up to 4K at 60 Hz.

The Express 4M2 includes SoftRAID XT, which enables support for RAID 0, 1, 10, 4, 5, 6, and JBOD configurations. Also included are a Thunderbolt 3 cable, power adapter, and charging cable. This enclosure works with both Windows and macOS systems. It’s been tested with 8TB drives and supports up to 32TB in total storage capacity. Note: Drives are sold separately.

NVMe SSD

Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) offers an efficient communication interface, taking full advantage of SSD technology and high-speed PCIe buses. With four NVMe SSD slots, this enclosure supports multiple enclosures, advanced drive monitoring, e-notifications, and firmware updates.

RAID and Storage Spaces

SoftRAID XT gives you the flexibility to configure the Express 4M2 for speed or redundancy. Choose from various RAID modes—RAID 0, 1, 10, 4, 5, 6—or use JBOD for independent drive setups.

DisplayPort

Easily connect a display with the rear-mounted DisplayPort, extending your screen without the need for extra adapters.

Thunderbolt 3

Fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3, the Express 4M2 includes a certified Thunderbolt 3 cable and supports both Mac and Windows. It also offers backward compatibility with Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices.

Multi-Drive

With SoftRAID, this enclosure supports RAID across multiple units. Add more Express 4M2 drives to expand your storage pool on macOS or Windows using Storage Spaces. Customize and reconfigure your setup however you need.

Windows Compatible

The Express 4M2 works seamlessly with Windows, supporting Storage Spaces. Combine the four M.2 SSDs or add additional enclosures to expand storage as needed, with flexible configuration options.
